Sharing photos and videos, even on a slow connection
A good connection is not always available, and some phones have little memory. These habits make posting smoother.
- Videos up to 50 MB upload as they are. Larger videos are shrunk by the app before uploading, up to 20 minutes long. Shrinking is heavy work, so short clips are easier on your phone.
- Post on Wi-Fi when you can, especially for longer videos.
- Wait for the upload to finish before closing the app or switching screens.
- Try again later if an upload stalls, rather than posting the same file several times.
- Keep your own copy. The app is provided as is, so keep the originals of photos and videos you care about.
If the app reloads when you pick a file
When you pick a photo or video, your phone opens the gallery. On phones with little memory, Chrome can be closed in the background and then reloads, which takes you back to the home screen. To avoid this:
- Close your other Chrome tabs and other apps.
- Update Chrome from the Play Store and restart your phone if needed.
- Try a short video first, 5 to 10 seconds, then longer ones.
- If your picker offers it, choose the file from Files instead of the Gallery app.
